Bookmarks for August 20th
When I’m not blogging, I’m browsing. Here are sites and pages that I bookmarked on August 20th:
- Buddha Machine: spiritual, generative transistor radio – Boing Boing: The Buddha Machine is a modified version of a device used in Buddhist temples throughout Asia, which feature repeating loops of chanting monks or nuns. This particular incarnation is the brainchild of the musical duo FM3. It contains nine preset loops which which play individually and run continuously.
- Controlling your identity in the social media world, or, Richard Cheese is an a**hole: Maybe he figured the audience would be a tired group of tourists on some awful vacation in the middle of the desert. Maybe Richard Cheese forgot his audience was part of an event called The New Media Expo.
Regardless the answer, Cheese showed the hundreds in attendance – along with the thousands who have seen the footage since – exactly how not to behave in this current era where everything is instantly published to the web.
- Bolt Breaks World Record and Wins Gold Again – NYTimes.com: Said Kim Collins of St. Kitts and Nevis, who finished seventh in the race,” It’s ridiculous. How fast can you go before the world record can’t be broke? How fast can the human being go before there’s no more going fast?”
